Our client had built an extension in stone, with a substantial plot of land to the rear which resembled a field complete with a few eye sores around the boundary. In general we were tasked to provide a pleasant back garden with limited maintenance, entertaining area, a new driveway and courtyard, and all to blend sympathetically with the old cottage stonework. The client was operating under limited budget hence a large expanse of turf was necessary.
The rear boundary was fenced and a base for shed laid, the shed is screened by the use of natural willow screens. Planters were constructed from old sandstone recyled on site. A lovely Pergola was construced to the gable end of the cottage with a sandstone circle feature set within surrounding sandstone from Stonemarkets Marketstone Paving range colours Buff-Multi and Fellstyle(grey) these colours were dominant within the new stone built extension.
The courtyard was laid in the same sandstone with decorative aggregates between, again willow screening has been used to hide an unpleasant building elevation. The driveway has also been laid with sandstone and edged with granite setts.
